Everyday Beauty: Apricot Blossoms & Blueberry Skies

Local Gem: Angelique Café

A surprising find on a concrete island in the Fashion District of Downtown Los Angeles, Angelique Café is a charming restaurant that transports you to the city of lights (or if you’re like me and haven’t been yet, what you think Paris feels like).

The environment is cozy and comfortable. The patio is perfect for people watching, the upper level has great natural light, and the small balcony is great for intimate meals.

Favorite Dish: Dijon Burger with pommes frites. I know it doesn’t sound very French but the sautéed mushrooms are irresistible!!

Lichtenstein in Process

I always enjoy checking out art galleries and seeing the many ways in which people choose to express themselves. Recently I made my way out to see the work of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein at Pepperdine University’s Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art. Most famous for his comic book style, Lichtenstein often parodied conventional Americana. The most interesting aspect of this collection was being able to view the artistic process from sketch to completion.

The exhibit runs until April 3, 2011.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Tuesday-Sunday)
